Neurology

The neuroscience department’s mission is to support patients with up to date healthcare and tertiary medical service. The department has an outpatient clinic supporting patients with professors from the best universities in Cairo giving care to all domains of neurological disorders like multiple sclerosis stroke, headache, nerve and muscle disorders, memory disorders, and movement disorders. The outpatient clinic also has a botox service for migraine patients, movement disorder patients, post-stroke spasticity, and hemifacial spasm. Neurophysiology clinical is the best in the catchment area having highly specialized professors working in it, the investigations present are electromyography and nerve conduction, EEG and long term EEG, evoked potentials and soon a polysomnography and video EEG will be available.

The emergency department has a neurology specialist with the first stroke pathway since 2015 with a very efficient stroke program in which the patient is not more than an hour from ED arrival gets his clot dissolved by medications or extracted by a catheter and at the end, the patient received nursing and stroke service in the stroke unit. Nursing staff and specialists have been supported by different training programs over the last 5 years. We also support patients with Neocritical services for patients with epilepsy and altered conscious level, we have the only continuous EEG monitoring modules in Cairo.

We have a special program for inpatient multiple sclerosis; we also support these patients with daycare services. Patients with uncontrolled epilepsy could get benefit from our implantable VNS device by a very professional team. Patients also have access to deep brain stimulation for Parkinsonism by a dedicated team. Furthermore, vascular malformation could get benefit from our intervention team by diagnostic catheters and therapeutic catheters.
