Job Summary:

Responsible for the planning, organization, direction, and control of the housekeeping dept. in accord with hospital and departmental policies and procedures in order to provide high standards of cleanliness within the hospital and associated buildings.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and update Clear procedures to maintain the quality of housekeeping operations. Procedures related to the cleanliness of patient rooms and public areas, provision of supplies, processing and distribution of linen, as well as reporting faults and repairs.
• Ensure consistent quality of cleaning in all areas.
• Take action to overcome inappropriate deviations from quality standards
• Ensure relevant information is accurately recorded, analyzed, and passed to the appropriate person.
• Take responsibility for purchasing equipment and supplies.
• Recruit and select high caliber staff within the departmental budgets and maintain harmonious working relationships.
• Ensure fulfillment of all Joint Commission International Standards
• Ensure that the hospital’s control of infection policy is carried out where it relates to the housekeeping department, in association with the DON and Infection Control Departments.
• Organize and control outsourced contracts such as Pest control; Marble Cleaning & Waste Management.
• Ensure that the clean linen service is provided to the required standards and at the necessary frequency, included issues, laundering, and repair of uniforms
• Ensure in association with the chief engineer that all equipment is maintained at optimum efficiency.
• Prepare annual departmental budgets and ensure goals and objective are met
• Ensure adequate and acceptable staff cover as and when required in accord with the need of the hospital.
• Observe all company or legal requirements with regard to health and safety precautions and procedures.
• Monitor housekeeping staff ensuring they maintain their personal presentation.

Qualification:

Bachelor degree plus 10 years’ experience in Housekeeping in hospitals or hotel with 3 years in a leadership role
